AP Studio Art Summer assignments

Some of the kids carved pumpkins for Mr. Truett and even though they didn’t last long enough to take to the pumpkin patch they turned out nice.

We did the value portrait project and got some great results! It is a great way to start to see lights and darks while you are painting.I

had many more that were very good and will post at a later date……

My drawing classes  and Creative Arts classes have been brushing up and contour lines with shading. Shoes are a great still life item. We did colored pencil versions also. Next we will go on to a more complex still life.

The beginning ceramic class has been working on pinch pot forms. They did a bird house shape and then were given the freedom to create a form on their own. they came up with several cute ideas.

These are my ceramics class’s latest project. We rolled out slabs and then they were to add details using additive and subtractive techniques. They were bisque fired and then glazed. I was so relieved to get these safely out of the kiln. Next we will be firing some pinch pot creations including miniature bird houses.

My beginning art classes are full of talent this year. We started out with Zentangle designs and filled our paper. We will use these as a folio cover after they are displayed.

Last week was our first full week of school and I have to say that I am so happy with all my classes! They are eager and excited to participate! I have very large classes but everything has went so smooth. I have some pics to post of ceramics class. They are working on tiles with a animal theme …..

Creative arts classes currently are sharpening drawing skills. We have been working on still life. Monday I brought magnolia branches to practice on. They did GREAT! I was really proud of all of them.
